My boat to heaven
The different shades of the sky were splayed out like cards,
And were reflected in the ocean to form floating stars,
While on a rock I waited midst the bobbing lights,
Time no longer mattered no day nor night.
That’s when far off in the distance a star drew near,
And the still of the ocean bore the ripples here,
As it’s glare came closer I could see the source,
It shone from a lamp as you held it forth.
I knew my path as I stepped on your boat,
To sail back to forever and to forever float.
There were so many things that I wanted to say,
But now that you’re here they’ve all drifted away,
On this shimmering water I hope we can too,
Till the top of the ocean kisses the moon,
The sun holds the clouds in a warm embrace,
And I’m reunited with your familiar face.
Heavy Band
Damp grass under flat hand,
Small stage holding heavy band,
Tall boots squashing brittle earth,
We must be at a festival.
Tuneful thrashing midst the trees,
Dancing shapes through break of leaves,
Breathing tents stabbed into ground,
We must be at a festival.
